In 20xx Claudia Pintore and Pietro … bought a small, 1.5 ha plot with a house, at the outskirt of Núgoro, with the idea of becoming direct producers. She is also a tailor, on the side. He always worked in agriculture, pruning trees and doing other seasonal jobs for other farmers.
They repaired the house and moved there with their two children. Given the small scale of the property, they focused on highly profitable crops like garden vegetables, mushrooms and saffron. These they sell to private clients and supermarkets in town.
Their saffron was obtained from bulbs from Santu ‘Engiu, Sardinia’s saffron capital. They started with 200 bulbs and have now multiplied them to 10’000.
Their saffron field is XXXX m2. Every … they explant the bulbs and replant them after preparing the land by ploughing and leveling it.

The harvest occurs in…
The stigmas are then placed in a drier and come out with only xxx of their original weight. They have now developed a brand and packaging and sell their saffron in 1g glass jars.

They have experimented with drying the mushrooms, to store the product and not be pressured into selling it immediately (they can sell the mushrooms at max after xxx days after harvest). The results are very satisfying and it is possible to revive the mushrooms in water and prepare them as the fresh ones. At the moment the quantities produced are minimal, and the production chain is problematic, but we hope to have dried mushrooms to export in the future.
Claudia and Pietro are neighbours with Giovanna and Pierpaolo, which are uphill from them, on the other side of the road that grants access to both plots.
